Tropical Fruit Discussion / Bangalapali mango scions from India
« on: April 24, 2013, 07:50:40 PM »
Hello,

I will receive in few days some mango scions of Bangalapalli from south Indian friends (TN). Is there special conditions required for this variety (mostly dried or wet climate)??

What about the taste?

Tropical Fruit Discussion / mango selection
« on: April 06, 2013, 01:49:14 PM »
I bought today 6 Alphonso & 2 mango from Ghana (I don't know the name, the fruit is small (litle bit bigger as an Alphonso, round, ever green when it is rippen and yellow fiberless inside).

So, my questions are:

- when they do selection for new varieties, how many seedling do they do before to get a new variety?
- does someone tried seedling and get after fruits from its tree? what about the quality?

Adacaosky: something like that (in Chania), sorry no flower, it was in winter:

Pancrazio: No here it's really hot since some weeks.

Haha...

In my opinion, you just have to wash them well and sow them. It will grow easy, particularly myrtus as it is a genus from the Myrtaceae and have a good germination rate when it's fresh.

your Juniperus seeds are coming from the tree on the right side.

let me know if you are interested by some Pistacia, as P.vera. P.terebinthe & P.lentiscus ?

We have lot of Blueberryhere in Greece, but I don't have any idea about varieties. I just know there are some black-violet and other white. But the white are not really tasty...only for caterpillar ;-)

Yes, I have put some bambu for the top. I will also probably do something more ambitious... a pergola on the top of the floor (all or part of it I don't know yet) to provide shade.

Thank all for your congratulations!

I received also seeds from Roy (again thank you!), who packed them well. Some where dried or roten, but not the majority. I just sow them some days ago, so too early to know if they will grow or not.

Again Thank you Roy!

I think it's a litle bit more hot in S-California, but I never had the opportunity to go there. Here it's also more hot than around due to effect of the city. The city is about 2°C more hot than the land around.
