Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: Advice for one last mango tree
« on: July 11, 2018, 10:33:47 PM »
If you like complex and very very sweet mango then choose Dot, Lemon zest, Coco cream, Sweet tart. You will not regret it. All of them, Just amazing for me. I personally like Carrie also for the same reason. But if you don’t like too sweet but just sweet enough (sweeter then Glenn) then Maha, Fair child, Angie. Keitt is also optional. I personally like extremly sweet and complex flavor.

Carrie is my Top tier mango in my garden. I put it same level of Dot, Lemon zest, sweet tart, Coco cream. I like it even more then Maha, Fairchild, peach cobbler, all the rest. It has very strong flavor and very very sweet. If anyone like Glenn then you will not like it though. Angie is a good mango also dwarf tree. but not strong enough for me. In my opinion, Carrie is for someone want very strong taste, sweetness. Angie is for someone looking for dwarf tree.

Angie is a good mango as a dwarf tree but in my garden I don’t put it my Top 5 . Dot, Lemon zest, Coco cream, Carrie, Sweet tart. All of them have very strong sweetness and complex flavor.

My Fairchild produce very good sweet fruits but small. Angie is dwarf and produce good sweet fruits. Glenn is kind of small tree and produce O.K fruits. None of my dwarf Mango trees beat regular sized tree in terms of taste at my house. Only for the taste, Top 5:Dot, Lemon Zest, Sweet Tart, Coco Cream, Carrie.

Temperate Fruit Discussion / Re: Best time to relocate Fig?

my guess is the same as yours...fall after it is completely dormant...that seems to be when most tree nurseries move their trees and you'd have to think they somewhat know what they are doing

In my experience, Some are very sensitive(like a Avocado tree). Fig trees does not have sensitive root system. I think you can move anytime as long as you be careful. But be careful, Fig tree don't like chemical Fertilizer when the root system is weak.

Hi everyone,
I received this fig as a cutting from a friend who works in a greenhouse. Hoping this leaf pattern is not a sign of mosaic fig virus. I have moved my fig away from my other plants by over 10 ft. for now, farther away places are too sunny. From what I have read, if it is mosaic virus, I will need to destroy this plant and not compost it or its soil. Thank you in advance!

It looks like a FMV (Fig Mosaic Virus) to me. But Tree will shake off FMV if you fertilize enough(organic) and water well. Some of my fig trees have FMV but all got over and grew well with good fertilizer and water. All of FMV infected trees put new branches and about 4 out of 5 is healthy and 1 still shows FMV sign. In my opinion, You don't have to burn the tree.
