Just an obligatory post to remind everyone to keep an eye out for cherimoya variety Rudy #1. An excellent hybrid selection that will hopefully be found and propagated before it disappears forever. Please let me know if you have or know anyone who might have Rudy #1/RH1 variety. Thanks

Couple more 1 gallon grafted cherilatas for $65 each. Transferred to tree pots for transit. $20 S&H, up to 2 tree pot plants per package. Painter's Cherilata is a delicious hybrid with a flavor and texture that reminds me of strawberry cheesecake. An annona more people in SoCal should be growing.

Will it fruit in a container?

The fruit pictured was a first fruit from a tree growing in a 15 gallon pot.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: Mangos in san diego
« on: December 06, 2023, 04:15:00 PM »
Yea, a lot of my plants were months late waking up this year and some never woke up at all. Last season my cherimoya harvest started early September and this season I just had my first cherimoya drop the other day. Did have a couple mangoes on my few small trees that seemed about on schedule but I think I should've let them focus the energy on growing out more.

I'm interested but my mangoes are still small and not productive yet. I could bring pomegranates.

Tropical Fruit Buy, Sell & Trade / Plants for sale in SoCal
« on: February 13, 2023, 10:42:59 PM »
Needing to free up some space I've decided to part with a few extras. While these plants may be showing some minor stress from the full sun southern exposure they've been receiving here they're hardened off and then some and will be all the stronger for it. Ready to be up-potted or ideally planted in the ground so they can explode with new growth this spring. These are mature specimen that have been fruiting for years. Available for pick-up in Chula Vista, South San Diego, California.

Big, bushy Cherry of the Rio Grande, eugenia involucrata, fruiting abundantly for years and produces sweet fruit with a pleasant flavor. Did some heavy pruning to promote lower branching, great candidate for multi-grafting. Seedling selection from Flying Fox Fruits. For sale for $200.

Big 15 gallon fruiting Eugenia Selloi, Pitangatuba, for sale for $180.

15 gallon Himalayan long red mulberry for sale for $200. Distinctly delicious fruit, a must have for mulberry collectors.

Also Kinda interested in the 2.5 years old Escarlate seedling and 3 years old Red hybrid. Messaged.

Grateful for the time spent and for the generosity Leo showed. Wish I'd had more opportunity to know him better. I feel that appreciation for the magnitude of his contributions will only continue to grow. The world is a richer place thanks to Leo and his legacy lives on.

Sorry to revive an old thread but I was wondering did anyone had any luck grafting RH#1,2,3, Rudy 12, and Rudy 15? Hoping to find someone that might have scions available for sale or trade this season or next. Thanks!

I have RH3 growing, not quite sure what it is, and have never gotten a fruit yet but that's mainly due to me never pollinating them.
Looks like a cherimoyaXatemoya but I don't have any more info on it yet.

Sounds interesting, some of my favorite annona so far are atemoya crossed back with cherimoya like Leo 1 & 3. Delicious hybrids that extend the season here by months. Let me know if you can spare any scions from your RH3. Thanks

Appreciate all the replies and suggestions! I'm going to plant some reticulata, montana, and ilama for annona root stock. I'm going to try imbe and seashore mangosteen as garcinia root stock. And looking at camansi and altilis for Artocarpus.

No certification required for sending seeds to CA. I would like a 10 pack and hope you'll reconsider.

I've been doing some research into the ideal rootstock options for various types of fruit I'd like to get growing at my family's place in Cabo Pulmo, Southern Baja, Mexico and would appreciate input from members with experience cultivating in similar conditions. I'm hoping to grow annona such as ilama, reticulata, squamosa, rollinia, salzmannii, poshte, and guanabana along with Artocarpus like jackfruit, cempedak, marang, and breadfruit. Also looking into a plethora of other fruit options from pouteria to plinia. Open to suggestions.
