Does this flower look like it was pollinated? Looks like a small fruit developing but I’m unsure. This would be the first time I’ve fruited one myself.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Is this really Ross Sapote ???
« on: December 14, 2020, 07:12:41 PM »
I was sold these so-called “Ross” Sapotes. They have yet to ripen so can’t comment on taste or flesh, but I thought Ross was smaller and had very visible striations on them. What do you think?

Has anyone accomplished this? Are we still too cold of a climate for this variety of garcinia? There are not many old posts on this tree.  Just curious if anyone has experience with this tree in Miami area. I'm pretty sure the lower keys has a few.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Question about my dragonfruit
« on: April 21, 2020, 08:48:07 PM »
Can I throw a pot of soil around the base of this or will it cause the vine to rot?? I ask because I’m concerned that one whack of the weed eater and it’s all she wrote. I could put a barrier but thought a pot of soup might force it to spring more roots and suck up additional nutrients. How should I play this?

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Breadfruit Tree is Finally in the Ground
« on: April 12, 2020, 12:11:54 PM »
Had to wait for the cuttings to root nicely In the 7 gallon pot for the summer rains to start kicking in, but alas the time had come.  I’ve wanted to plant one for years and never got around to it. Made a nice hole and planted with a combination of compost, manure, and viogro garden soil, topping with cypress mulch. Looking forward to seeing its growth rate over the summer

Tropical Fruit Discussion / FINALLY! A female flower on my Jackfruit
« on: March 27, 2020, 11:25:06 PM »
I brought this seedling back to life about 3 years ago. Then Irma beat it up bad. But it survived and after all the male flowers finally a female. I tied a male to it just to push the odds of pollination in my favor a bit. We’ll see....
