Anyone have any tips on germinating these. How long are the seeds viable for.

Keep the planted seeds for a year at least.3 months in the fridge can help and GA3 is too hard to get right with them.

Ive failed with ebay sources of these no less than three times :'( but Im fairly certain they were very old and dead so I have given up on ebay yang mei unless a reputable seller offers them with personal pics of their garden as proof.
I dont know of any source for fresh seeds of these at all!
Perhabs google translate and asian websites could yield a good source?

I had good germination rates just by being patient. They took around 6 months  without any special effort. These are approaching  12 months since sowing the seed and are off scamBay surprisingly enough.

I had the best success just planting them in the ground when they were fresh in the summer and they started popping up in the spring. Unfortunately some type of insect seemed to love them and they were all mowed down quickly.

Not quite. I think they were planted late in the summer and came up early in the spring.

I have tried repeatedly with these and have never gotten any to sprout. I think they and lanceolata dugentia(sp?) are the two I have had the worst luck in germinating. I can sprout African seeds all day long.  I am waiting on someone to sell seedlings. I will have to check PFS. I have had great success with their seedlings in the past. They have a great product even if he did sub a tertiary fruit tree with a useless Brazilian olive.

Thank you all, It sounds like this is a patience seed, i'll try cold stratifying and straight sowing.

on a recent order, he gave me a couple yumberry as it was the last of his stock (purchased with kokum).  anyway, I gave up after a couple of months. maybe should've just held on to them.  his kokum did sprout.  took way longer than what others have mentioned was the germination time.  3 months and two have popped up with a few more coming out possibly in the next month or so.  Hawaii time maybe?   :)

Tradewinds carries them, I just picked up a couple packs a few weeks ago. I'll repost here if/when they sprout.

Good luck. I have had almost zero germination from anything I have gotten from Tradewinds and I used to order a fair bit due to selections. After the second large order and several smaller orders I went to other options and had more luck.

The seeds i always have success with from tradewinds are Passion fruit, guavas, and their expensive single seeds like the mangosteens, langsat, cola nut, and the $8-10 single seeds. Ive also had success with random seeds, Ive tried every seed on their page its usually 50/50 with the randoms.

No hermie flowers. One cultivar with both sexes though. Hard to find honest exporters. I would not use the one I used the first time as they now ask for hundreds per tree plus phyto plus shipping. That's in USD. Used to be 15-19 per tree shipped with phyto. They also tried to send seedlings as grafted the first time.
