How does these taste? and how big does this tree get? looks very interesting

Kaelix87 It's been growing slow so far but producing well for a small tree in the container. The taste is sweet pleasant. Very fragrant too.

Do you have disease issues with guavas in Ocala? I would like to plant them here in St. Pete, but have heard that guavas are hard to care for because of high humidity and abundance of insects.

I am further south of you and I have no issues with insects or any fungal/bacteria issues. I’ve never had to spray it for anything.

Your Thai red looks excellent! I've got a guava similar to yours but I haven't received fruit from it yet, definitely gets me excited to try it!

Thanks. Mine are all in containers. Last year I had some issues with white flies but they were almost everywhere. This year no problem at all. I don't know about the fruit fly in your area but here I don't have them. I have to use organza bags because of bags and lizards are eating them here and there.

Do fruitfly also go to strawberry guava? I want guavatree that has no fruitfly.

Thanks. You probably have the other close variety called Malaysian. I have two, small seedling and 8' tall air-layer I think. Didn't get any fruit from either of them. Hopefully, next year, so I can compare the fruits and the taste.

Where can i find Jalisco red guava trees? I've been looking for one for my father

JF, one day I will have to chose which ones are the best for me and which ones will have to go. So far there is only one that I don't really like but I gave it one more year and I will try to graft better varieties on it. Since my grafting skills are not perfect yet I cannot afford buying the scions of superior varieties and waste them. Guava is not easy to graft or root. Seeds are the easiest but unfortunately you don't sell them. I wish I could taste your best guavas. :) We don't have these varieties here in FL.

This is a magnificent looking fruit Galka. How does this taste compared to the Malaysian magenta? The Malaysian magenta is a pretty damn good guava when picked in the winter in so cal. Your Thai looks even more appealing. I am curious about taste. Im not a big fan of soft guavas but the deep red color has piqued my interest.

JF, wow 20 trees. :) That's the way to chose the best ones you like. I have maybe 10 or so, not all of them fruited yet.

xshen, I can't compare them yet because the Malaysian didn't fruit, hopefully next year. The taste of my Thai red is pretty good. It's nice sweet and creamy, like you are eating fruit flavored yogurt. It's hard to explain. Let's say, when I eat one, I want MORE. ;D I bet the ice cream made from this guava would be delicious.

Red Malaysian is one of the worst tasting guava to me. I got it at Lowe's. The taste is a little tart and bitter. But it sure is very fragrant, Lol.

That could be it. This is the first year that it produced fruits. So you maybe right that it'll get better in subsequent years. I hope so.
