Help please. LZ flowering way early
« on: December 22, 2019, 11:07:43 AM »
I live in east coast of central Florida and my lemon zest mango is flowering now. Last year it flowered in late January and the flowers died due to that fungus they are suspital to because it was wet and cold. I heard you can cut back the flowers and they will regrow? If true what is the proper method? Do I cut off the whole panical or just the flowers on the panicals?
Didn’t get any mangos off this tree last year but the ones I got in 2017 were amazing. I really want a crop this year!!!

My Lemon Zest is also flowering. Don't worry about it. Leave the flowers and let them be. You'll probably lose most of the fruit to a bacterial disease anyways. I lost over 100 fruit last year. Lol.

Cut flowers off if they are exposed for a time at less than 10 deg C > Cold causes sterility . The tree will bloom again (mostly)

I'm in the same boat this year: LZ is in full bloom more than any other tree in my yard. I would not cut them. We will likely get a re bloom anyways and most of these blooms will bear fruitlets that are DOA anyway. LZ tends to drop lots of fruit the further inland you are. So mother nature will take care of cutting back for you.

Is there a fungus or bacterial disease that affects this specific variety?
