Lychee Grove Gone-Thomas Edison And Henry Ford's Grove
« on: March 13, 2017, 03:30:48 PM »
What a depressing sight. The magnificent lychee grove that Edison and Ford planted in the early 1900's is gone. Cut down a little over a week ago when the land was sold. I talked to the county a couple of years ago about trying to preserve this land as a historic site and they said no. They didn't have the money.

A couple of before and after pictures.

I know... its not as good as a tree, but I have seen some really cool things made from lychee stumps (trying to be positive). Better than letting them rot!

Here is one I took at a botanical garden in singapore. Its a lion head that acts as a door frame.

Beautiful art but these stumps won't fit into the back of a pick up. They're massive. I was probably 10 feet away from this stump.

"It was 3:00 A.M. in front of the fireplace," the Grove Park Inn's Bell Man, Dave Bergam, explains in a video interview. "A lady showed up, I took a picture. She was not there. The next picture, she was there. And then she disappeared."

Have the lychee trees been bearing? If they were not current lychee fruit bearers then not as big a crime. But still a crime. Heart  Sutra says do not cut down old trees.
