They're looking great Luís! The small one is putting out some nice leaves, and that Orinocco is kinda crazy...
Are those Yams, the ones that I sent you? They seem to be enjoying the place.
Congrats.

I start to do one thing that i saw on internet. One really simple fertilizer, only to melt two banana peels and 1L water on blender and put on banana plants directly... lets see if it works! Another 3 new banana plants on the way, double mahoi + sumatrana x + mona lisa!

This winter was just terrible. Our lowest temp record falled to -6.5C from -3C! I lost some trees but only 3 banana plants. I just lost 1 dwarf cavendish, 1 dwarf red and the lacatan. The other banana trees are growing well! I will get more trees soon!

They are Polynesian bananas. Musa troglodytarum, Fe'i bananas. They are not commonly found outside of their region. They can reach heights of 30 feet.

Ate some this morning. I wish they were more commonly available. They take a little over 3 years to produce.

Hi Luis,
Have your banana produced yet? Was any mislabeled?
I would like to buy several banana pups but when buying from nursery I have the feeling they send you whatever they have in stock unless it has very prominent features since young.

Hello my friend. No they didn't fruit yet because due cold weather on winter they die back to the ground for two years. So last winter i dig them up and plant them in big pots. They are growing well now and i will let them on pots untill i can. Regarding banana plants to buy i can tell you some:

The problem with these is that it seem almost nobody in Europe has fruiting plants from these nurseries, so I can't find feedbacks.
I bought a Velutina 2 years ago and it's now 2 meter tall and not flowering(it's supposed to flower at 1.5 max, usually 1 meter).
Two raja puri bought from a single nursery looked totally different and with a different growing habit.
So I was looking for some confirmation. Many times the nursery is in good faith and the fault is who supplied them.

Hi! This is an old thread... i made a lot of mistakes and choose the place i plant them very badly... a lot died.
I start again with better locations, so now it's waiting.
