No Doni, not at home because my garden is too small for it.  ;D

And here is the mountain from hawaii  :P

29
My sprinklers don't spray a mist and never make wet leaves for sure. We even don't get rain for many months but the powdery mildew is a serious pest.

Even spraying copper doesn't help for me. And spraying sulfur when the tree's are infested also doesn't help much.

I read that spraying a mix of copper and sulfur from early bloomingseason constantly every 2 weeks will do the job. I haven't tried that, i gave up with spraying. This year i didn't see any powdery mildew yet but it only started raining since last week.

They build this hell hill ( with heaven inside ) to celebrate durian season every years

Doni what is inside this hill? It it hollow inside or made of only durians? It looks great!

If Thailand sees this they want to make a bigger one i guess  ;D Would be fun to see which country can make the biggest durianhill.

32
I even dare to say that i have seen this banana or very similar ones. Not with blue colors though.

We have specialized bananatree shops here. Next time i will make a pic.

I will soon have ultra-tropical lychee/litchi seeds (no chill hours) and still have mayongchid and maprang wan seeds.

I would like to trade them for kepel, baccaurea, keledang, tampirik, kasai, dabai but other seeds are also welcome if they are new for me.

They will  have to be seed grown.

Why?  ???

I don't know the microclimate, soil and water in this region, but in general I would focus more on temperate and subtropical fruits.

You don't have to grow it all from seed, there's much more availlable in Europe then we know. Even durians, but they won't grow there i guess.

In continental Europe you have good sources for subtropicals, but you won't find ultra-tropicals (durian, mangosteen, rambutan...). I don't know of anybody in EU (including Canary Islands) successfully growing durian.

Well if i remember well then the member from chech republic has grown a durian in his country, or it was his friend who had a fruiting tree. He also collects duriantree's but they didn't fruit yet i thought. To be sure you would have to ask him, his forumname is VLK.

Ultra topicals is another story but we had that member from Malaga? who showed us his garden and it was amazing. He had also had some variety's from Thailand there. If i remember well his name was philippe or something like that, not sure if that was you but i guess not. He showed like 20 or more pictures, i remember thai roseapple, papaya, and much more.

One day i made a list of european nusery's on the forum, i don't know where it is now but that's usefull info for european growers.

We all know bangcock is in a different world however in the normal world that most are a part of, you dont offer something for sale you dont have unless you have made it CRYSTAL CLEAR that you have to special order the product and then one should with get payment up front before you "place the order" (assuming he is being truthful that he placed any order which i have my doubts ).

Rob:

I have seen several diatribes directed at bangkok. What gives?

Michael

I have Rob from Excalibur on block, i don't need to read his nonsense. Just check gardenweb or davesgarden to see what people think of him.

Satha had been asking me for those seeds for many weeks and wouldn't give up. Also asked for many grafted tree's. He/She even didn't want to buy them from TESP seeds when i showed the website where they are for sale.

To get rid of it i decided to offer them seeds and order them from the farmer. He/she paid me but after some weeks cancelled the order. I allready had paid the farmer to get his biggest ones and had to take them anyway to avoid problems. I refunded the money though and told him/her to not waste my time anymore. From now on i will never reply any mails from Sri Lanka anymore.

But in Europe we don't use Fahrenheit and no inches and that stuff.

You can grow fingerlimes or good dragonfruit or mango, maybe papaya, avocado, mayongchid, abiu.

You can grow all tropicals except the ultra tropicals i guess. Just go to the local market and see what's there. Do you want to sell the fruit you grow or what's your plan there?

we use the metric system in Australia too Bangkok.

Yes i know starling but you guys still drive on the wrong side of the road  :P

But Druss should focus on the European members of the forum, they can help you getting new fruittree's. Europe also has many nursery's for tropical fruit, some even work online. We also have Italian members here.

Druss if you know what you are looking for then maybe i/we can help you to find it in the EU. If i were you i would try sweet roseapples or any other fruit which is not commercially availlable in Italy. Or jackfruit. We have a member from Spain who grows an amazing diversity of tropical fruit but he hasn't been online for a long time now. He posted loads of pics of his paradise and all grew very well.

@Starling,

Yes there is also an Aussie website with almost the same name.  ;D

But the fingerlime tree's from Oz are sold on ebay for many years now, worldwide. I also still wanted to buy them but never did. Now they are here which is much easyier for me. They also sell large tree's so they must have been growing here for a while then.

Also there are funny websites to be found. Some just change the name of a fruit, some claim they came from a certain location which suits them for some reason, others just change one letter of the place of origin.

http://www.bibitbuah.com/2010/10/harga-tanaman-buah-impian.html

Look at this site, they have grafted tree's, cuttings, seedlings, but also Cangkok  ::) ;D Now my bahasa indonesia is very limitied but after the B comes the C.  ;D

The whole problem with paying for copyrights is the fact that it's so complicated. If it was easy to pay for copyrights in 5 minutes by internet then sure many more people would do so. I studied a bit about this and i came on websites that i even can't read because my english is not sufficient enough. So how would an Asian ever be able to understand it?

The latest trend here is "made in germany". On the big markets you can find many products with a stamp/engraved /watermark/sticker of "made in germany". Yesterday i wanted to buy a wetstone to sharpen my grafting knifes and it was the "5 tiger brand"  "made in germany"  ;D The stone was crooked like a banana so sure it would be made in germany  ;D
Also "Holland" is used these days as a brandname for quality. I like to ask the vendors about it and they get pretty nervous when i do so. :P

But why is Byron sunrise a different fingerlime then the other ones? Is that one not an official PBR fingerlime?

wow, those grafts are terrible.

You should be removing the water shoots. The byron sunrise has smaller leaves and they are curlier. Also the skin of the fruit never gets red, orange or anything like it really. The skin remains dark maroon with blushings of orange which are very faint, the pulp itself is where the sunrise colour really comes in.

Well the grafts work but are not the most perfect grafts i've seen.

But i don't see any watershoots, all shoots have the small leaves, i just checked them. The rootstock has big leaves. That pic was taken 2 days ago and seems to have shoots with big leaves but they don't have that. Or those watershoots have rained off in the storm wednesdaynight.

Before i see any fruit appearing it will take a year i guess.

My  little Raypoza tree is fruiting nicely this year. The couple Raypoza I've had from florida are definitely in my top. I think they are delicious

Yes it looks like a rapoza but i thought that variety is from Hawaii.

The Taiwanese also used Irwin as a parent to make new variety's. But namdocmai-green is still sweeter then the Yu-wen. It is sweet enough though and i love those huge pieces one could cut off this mango. Also the pit was very thin which is great.

Hello members,

I read in notes on MAprang varieties, WAN maprang is the best and very sweet. Who is havng WAN MAprang seeds

rgds

I won't sell to you. You let me order the mayongchids from the farmer in Nakhon nayok and when i had ordered them you cancelled the order....that's not done in my world.

Yes maprang wan is sweeter then mayongchid. I have both and seeds for sale/trade. But mayongchid is larger. Maprang wan tastes more like mango and mayongchid has some sour tones like mangosteen, it tastes more fresh.

I also have seeds from maprang peeuw (sour)

Wan is said to be sweeter than Meyoung Chid. You sell WAN at what price sir

I bought this Jakrapat (Yu-wen) mango today, it was 1 kg and super nice. Juicy and sweet and no fibre at all.

It reminds me of Osteen but with less fibre and softer flesh.

They can be deep red/purple but a chinese man before me bought all of those.

I'm happy i grow it, what a monster mango. Soon i will taste the other ones as well, they wouldn't sell them but will have more soon.

Hendrik can you describe the taste of the artocarpus sarawakensis? There is another thread here on the forum about them, people are looking for them.

How does it taste compared to the pedalai or keledang?
Ok my friend, I will describe artocarpus sarawakensis. Artocarpus sarawakensis is sweeter than the other artocarpus. Artocarpus sarawakensis has pungent aroma. This plant include the fast plant to grow and have result fruits.
The differences taste between pedalai and keledang is the pedalai has sweet taste and soft texture of flesh whereas the keledang is the flesh has orange colour and the taste is sweet, sour and little has banana taste.

Okay thanks Hendrik, i didn't know that.
