Tropical Fruit Buy, Sell & Trade / Re: Patupi banana plant wanted
« on: November 09, 2022, 07:47:51 PM »
Bountiful Gardens has them. Says they are cultivated from a usda specimen. Seems like a cool variety.  Especially since it grows and produces so fast. 5-6 week bloom to ripening time is insanely awesome. Might have to get one myself.

230
Also looking for the variety "SH3640". Seems like it may be a good banana for the panhandle region.

It doesn't say but I would think the etsy shop's banana plants are tissue cultures. Therefore they are clones and definitely true to type. However any banana pup is true to type. Most banana are not from seeds anyways.

Does anyone have this variety available? I've got a lot of species available for trade. Not a ton by way of fruit but lots of the permaculture style perennial veggies and herbs. Let me know.

Thanks! DG

I'd definitely trade somebody for a fruit or 3 if they are still in season. I've never tried a triloba fruit. Really want too. Have Inga vera seedlings and quality suriname cherry seedlings to trade amongst many perennial veggies and such. See some of my posts for a list of things I have.

Temperate Fruit Buy, Sell, & Trade / Re: ISO Feijoa seed or fruit
« on: October 12, 2022, 10:14:20 AM »
The fruits are pretty good. Hopefully next year my bushes will produce now that they are in the ground. There was a huge bush on the roadside nearby that I stopped and picked from before. Went to check it this year and the property owner chopped it down. What a shame.

239
What would you want for an airlayer?

240
It's cool you found some. I thought about buying a tree at that nursery but haven't yet. I'd trade you something for a few seeds. Is this species dioecious?

241
Just fruits and exotics sells the tree for these. Otherwise unfortunately haven't heard of anyone selling the actual fruits.

242
Sorry to hear that man. I know what the devastation of a large hurricane is like. 4 or so years ago we got a direct hit from hurricane Michael here in the panhandle  I'm really only down the street from where it made landfall. Took me forever to clean up all the mess. Prayers going out to you bro. Everything will be fine again eventually even if things seem bleak now.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: Does this look like Psidium Longipetiolatum?
« on: September 29, 2022, 02:38:43 PM »
I had gotten some fruits from my larger Red psidium species but they came out yellow. Supposedly a bit bigger fruits than cattleyanum but is a different species. Looks about the same as the cattleyanums I have otherwise. Either way fruit wasn't red and fruits weren't noticeably larger. Basically the same as my yellow cattleyanum fruits. My actual red cattleyanum seedlings haven't fruited yet. Only around a year old.

I'll try to post a pic of the plant this fruit pictured came from.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Does this look like Psidium Longipetiolatum?
« on: September 29, 2022, 12:49:19 PM »
This is a fruit I got off a relatively cold hardy guava that I bought as Psidium Longipetiolatum. I had gotten another plant of this species from jabo45 at some point that is a bit macroscopically different. The latter plant having more rounded leaves. This fruit is from the original plant. Got it here but I don't remember  from who. Fruit was good so no complaints. Similar color inside as outside. What y'all think?

Temperate Fruit Buy, Sell, & Trade / American persimmon seeds
« on: September 24, 2022, 04:08:07 PM »
Have tons of fresh 2022 American persimmon seeds available for sale or trade. 10 seeds for $3 but if you for 100 seeds I'll do $20. That's a $10 discount for the bulk quantity based off proportionate price. Price of whatever seed quantity plus applicable shipping.

I'll be willing to make trades too. I'd really love to try a quality pawpaw fruit this year while they are in season. If the seeds from me don't completely offset what the prospective trader needs to ship a fruit we can work out a partial payment deal. Willing to trade for other stuff as well. Make offers! I'm into all things edible and medicinal from fruit to veggies and herbs. Particularly looking for self heal herb, mushroom herb, lemon verbena, mounjean(spelling?) tea herb, burdock, elechampane, feverfew, anise, chervil, echinacea, etc. Thanks for any offers!

I wouldn't have a problem with that if I were near the trees. They are in my father's yard 8 hrs south of me.

Thanks for the glowing feedback! I try to only sell nice looking plants. Won't offer them if they aren't up to par. Hope they grow well for you!

Bunches of small moringas ready to go at shipping size. Recently trimmed down and now growing back.

There's definitely wild forms of a true cherry as far down as the mid state at least naturally occurring. Up here in the panhandle there's definitely wild black cherry and maybe sour bird cherry too. They don't look much like a store bought cherry necessarily. Much smaller in size. Don't think most quality cherry varieties would do well whatsoever here. I did once see a very low bush with what appeared to be store looking and sized "cherries" on the plant near the Alexander springs camp ground many, many years ago. They weren't ripe at the time so didn't try them. Looked just like a store cherry but still green. Have no clue if it truly was a cherry or not though. Damn near identical. Maybe a seedling from thrown seeds??? Idk.
