Reminds me of garcinia xanthochymus, but it could be something else, there was an unidentified species from CATIE in Costa Rica, that look just like xanthochymus, but it taste sweet.

From what the collector told me this morning, the fruits are not so sweet. Will taste them when ripe, should be pretty soon as well. I will let you know then.

Flying Fox...I am growing a Garcinia variety I got here from CATIE, and I wondered if it could be your "unidentified" Garcinia variety you mentioned. The guys at CATIE called it Garcinia Galapagos, but I can't find any info at all on this type of Garcinia anywhere. Have you heard of it?

some pics of xanthochymus and the Garcinia from CATIE (Doug, not sure, but if it looks like xanthochymus, and reportedly has an acid/sweet flavor, rather than just pure acid), I'm sure it's the same plant you are talking about.

Garcinia from CATIE

GarciniaCATIE, bottom of leaf is more pale, with discreet secondary nerves, and the midrib is same color as leaf surface, pale green

Garcinia xanthochymus bottom of leaf shows secondary nerves that are less discreet, and the midrib is more yellow/green, than the leaf surface
