Selling a few fruit trees and some ornamentals.

Fruit trees:
- Rosita or Flor de cacao
- Loquat
- Tamarindo
- Australian fingerlime
- Kei apple
- Ice cream bean

I took pics of the ornamentals as I’m not sure of their names.

They range in price from $20 -$50.  Most have  probably outgrown their 3-gallon containers and are ready for either transplanting or in the ground.

Call me at 786-942-8902 for more info. Located in west Redlands.

This is a thick branch, about 4" in diameter, stuck directly in the ground 2 months ago!

I know that some of these are available at local nurseries like Pine Island but was hoping to trade. I have the following plants available:

I'm looking to buy a Jakarta mango tree locally in South Florida, preferably Miami-Dade. Anyone know any nurseries that sell it. Pine Island doesn't seem to have.

The flavor of the cinnamon apple is one of my favorites. It is very satisfying and contrary to what others have said does have a flavor reminiscent of cinnamon apple pie. It is a highlight of every visit I make to the F&S Park. I have a few trees and cannot wait until they start fruiting.

OK, mine are a bit younger than yours and also no flowers or fruit yet.

As you say, they are pretty vigorous and healthy-looking although in my winter they start looking really scraggly. They bounce back in the springtime.

I should have a bunch of rosita de cacao (Quararibea funebris) seedlings available for purchase/trade locally (South Florida) in about a month.

Anyone have experience growing these in South Florida, and if so, under what conditions...
Thanks,Jaime

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: Cherry of the Rio Grande

Mine was planted one one side of my yard and eventually started getting yellowing leaves or outright leaf drop, and just overall did not look good at all. So I moved it a different section of my yard under the canopy of a jujube tree and it recovered nicely. Gives plenty of fruits now. Sometimes the local soil conditions in one part of your yard are the issue. That same are where I had the CORG planted initially doesn't seem to bother other plants I have there now, so it really just depends on the species.

Even though you bought a grafted plant, don't you still need a plant of opposite sex, or did you mean that the plant has both sexes due to having grafted the missing sex onto a tree?

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Going to Panama soon...
« on: December 28, 2018, 04:11:38 PM »
I'm going to Panama In January, mostly around Panama City, any ideas for fruit-related things to do?

Gardens, markets, member gardens, etc.

Thanks,
Jaime

Taking a business trip to those locations soon and was wondering if there are any members at any of those locations, or if anyone has any tips on visiting any botanical gardens, or other fruit-related places.
Thanks,Jaime

Unfortunately, I only have 1 dragon fruit variety that is self sterile so it barely gives fruit even with hand pollination. Looking to buy or trade (or share) other varieties of dragon fruit with local South Florida members.
Thanks,Jaime

The tree is in partial sun, about 60% of the daylight hours, and is approx. 6 years old.

Yeah, it looks like it might be Myrcianthes Pungens although looking at some of the pics online I don't see that the leaves in those pics are as hairy (tomentose) as on my plant. Also, new leaves look almost purplish on the pics online, while on mine they are light yellow.

Not a CORG, nor campomanesia adamantium. The leaves and fruit are fuzzy, but sturdy, with pointy leaves. Pointy enough that you want to avoid touching them.
It's definitely in the myrtle family and IDing this one has taken a while since I was waiting for the first fruits.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / ID please...

This plant is finally giving me its first fruits and although they're small they might be enough for ID. The fruits don't appear to be ripe and are very small at the moment, probably slightly less than 1 cm.
First 2 pics show the 2 small fruits.

Mammea apple is excellent! Can't wait until mone flowers so I can get some budwood to graft onto it.

Flavor to me is a cross between raspberry and apricot, which I thinks are great flavors. Tried it both hard and soft, both are great but probably prefer soft.

I believe it's a citrus relative due to its flavor and leaves, but can't pinpoint a species. Really small, 1/4 inch diameter, at most, and a citrusy flavor, but not sure what could be done with these due to their size.

Any ideas are welcome!
Jaime
