Tropical Fruit Discussion / female seedless Che trees
« on: June 30, 2023, 01:16:29 PM »
Hi All I have been reading off and on on the female seedless che trees there are 2 of them listed by name "Norris"  and  "Darrow" then I see just female seedless Che, has anyone tried growing all three of the trees or at least both of the named varieties to see if there is any difference? or are these all just one and the same tree and I am the only one who dint get the memo?

Hi Adam and congratulations, can you tell us how you did the cross? which male did you use to pollinate ? how long did it take for the seed to grow and fruit?                                                                                                                                                                  Regards    Patrick

These are medium easy to start from cutting. I done it and shared a bunch that started successfully as well. I been raving about this one saying someone needs to commercialize because it requires zero water and fruits early season and beautiful red tasty orbs.
Hi Jonah thanks for the comment, do you remember how you started the cuttings time of year exc.?

Cool Patrick, glad to hear you taste results sounds like a keeper have you tried cuttings yet ?
no but they do air-layer very well, I suspect you could do them from cuttings as well

Interested in your taste opinion on these congrats on fruiting them Patrick.
Hi Scott finely tasted one yesterday, really liked the fruit and my wife loved the fruit, flavor was interesting kind of like a plum that was very juicy but not quite ripe with maybe some kind of berry flavor added in

In the spring I'd be happy to trade goumi cuttings for So-shang if you are interested in attempting a cocktail tree for cross pollination. This year I grafted "Catherine's Find" Elaeagnus (latifolia? I'm not sure anyone knows what species this is but it sure seems similar to So-shang) onto goumi (multiflora) and it had by far the best take rate of anything I've ever grafted, nearly 100%.
remind me in the spring
