i always hate cutting it though, as it's very sticky. tip is to wear some disposable gloves

Just spent some time in Bali Indonesia and this fruit was given to us by our resort (middle one)
They called it snake fruit because of the skin. It was a very hard skin, but soft texture inside.
Wasn't too sweet... and just tasted 'ok'

Jack fruit is one of my favorites as well. There's plenty at the local asian markets here.
I usually get my fill when I am in southeast asia.
There is a distinct smell to them (not like durian) but I can see how it can be off-putting to some.
