I had nothing to do today so i went to ong’s nursery and found his Lisa Atemoya. He has Lisa in a yellow collor and this color. I dont know if they are the same kind. Maybe whrn it is imature it is dark and when it mature it turns yellow.
Are there different Lisa Atemoya? I see some that are pink in the forum.

They start off green and get yellow when ripe. The pink color is noted more in the spaces between segments.

The Lisa with the purple/black edges is one of my favorite Annonas to look at! I have to remind myself to get a scion of that just for the color of the fruit. Thanks for posting!

I did the hybridizing of the 'Lisa' (48---26) when I worked at Zill's.
I don't recognize that third picture.

This is the picture of "Lisa" that Ong's uses on their website http://www.ongnursery.com/atemoya.htm (http://www.ongnursery.com/atemoya.htm) and I think I remember seeing it at the nursery too. It will be interesting to see what it actually is, given that the creator of Lisa finds that it is not Lisa. ???

I do not know why he called it lisa? It doesn’t look like JF’s Lisa. The immature fruit has a dark tone like it was black. I even try to rube off the powder and it was still a dark green. His trees are Large and he sells his 15 gallons for 375 dollars. i have not taste them yet but will in the spring. Ong will also let me try their “red atemoya” and claim it is not a 4718.
Below are the Lisa atemoya that his niece are holding. This is also from his website.

Jf,
Does ong’s lisa looks like the typical lisa? I mean the kids holding the atemoya, do the lisa atemoya look normal?

Yea it has some resemblance of Lisa like my Birula. Quand calls it Lisa so you have to believe him but $375 for a 15 gallon is outrageous
-
That is pretty steep. Atkins has african prides 15 gal nice trees for 75$
-
Perhaps that blackening is due to some local condition.

wow that's a good price I've been looking for African pride. Where's Atkins at?

They had a lot of nice looking african prides and other cherimoyas and avocados citrus etc. Its more of a grove supplier than a boutiqe nursery. I put one of the african prides in next to my cherimoyas.

$375 is kind of average price at his nursery. You will fall off the chair to see the price tag of phetpakchong $1,200.

One think about Ongs that is different from other nurseries is he doesn't put a 5 gallon plant in a 15 gallon container. He is honest and he has the most diverse plants for sale. 40 varieties of Wax Jambu!Go up to California Tropicals in Vista and you'll see some pretty high prices. I saw a 45 gallon Chico for $4000. The guys that import some of the rare items have to pay quite a bit and then if the inspector from the AG dept. sees one illegal (hitchhiker) bug then everything within 15 feet has to be destroyed. Also it takes years to grow some of these sub-tropicals up to a size that customers want.

He also has good customer service skills that sometimes make me forget the price until I came home and looked back at the price tag and wondered why I bought it so high .

He now sales his 15gallon phet pakchong for $375. His wife told me in the begining the Phet pakchong was really expensive because it was hard to import.
Now you can get a three gallons of the phet pakchong for 75 bucks but not from Ong.

Yup, more than a year ago , this variety was not cheap like now . I should have waited...

I’d like to try the Lisa at Ong’s too, especially before buying one. Many of their Atemoyas ripen in January. Did they say that Lisa would not be ready until spring, or is that a good time for this variety?
