Title: Interesting japan citruses.

I  just came across the info about new interesting acid citrus triploid, cross  of yuzu and sudachi.
It is called Awasuzuka 阿波すず香.

There really isn't any English info out there, but who doesn't like a triploid?

Japan always leads in new hybrids. Also saw this gem. I was after one of these for so long back in the day.

If the translator is correct they pollinated tetraploid Honda group  Sudachi with diploid Yamane Yuzu pollen.
Then  rised the embryo in vitro. Then checked the chromosomes number and triplods where selected, In 1997 they made selections of seedlings to choose something with taste between yuzu and sudachi. In 2001 they got new fruits, but trees were very high and with weak flowering, so they make second generation of seedlings and another sellection. In 2023-14 they selected tree with medium grow and heavy flowering.  Cultivar was registered in 2015.

It probably should be very tasty.

Sudachi itself is a hybrid between Yuzu and another unidentified parent with a high degree of Tachibana ancestry.

How exceptionally rare to get a valuable translation from Japanese to English using a computer. Though I guess with scientific type publications context becomes less of an issue.

That's very exciting, I will see if it has been released to the public next time I venture across the Pacific.
