Does anyone have or know where to buy one of the zills butterscotch sapodilla? Thanks!

Hi Alex , i suggest:  if you have a chance,  get a seedling going, so you can graft later on. This variety is backordered at ZHPP , i heard they are filling 2019 orders right now for the nurseries and if available that too will be sold at a very high price. You will surely be able to get scions here from members next season.

Tell me again what makes it better than Alano.  Larger fruit?  Less grit?  Smaller tree?  I don't know how it could top Alano in flavor.

Thanks Satya. There is nowhere nearby that sells sapodilla to get seeds from. Do you think it will be big enough in the fall to graft to(assuming that I find seeds)?

Supposedly tastes more like butterscotch candy than brown sugar.

Local farmers market should have them. I am not sure how fast they grow, i have a seed in paper towel waiting to sprout, a fruit shared to us when we visited cape coral/pine island. So many members here grow sapodilla so it should be easy to find/buy fruit or a random seedling growing in their compost pit, given they want to share

Yes same story i heard too..low grit, highly precoccious and productive and taste like butterscotch candy. I am not sure if it is compact/dwarf, haven’t heard from growers who have a mature tree.

Eh...I dunno about that...I'm sure sapodillas grow faster in South Florida than here, but I started a seed in January and the plant is about 3" tall now.

Eh...I dunno about that...I'm sure sapodillas grow faster in South Florida than here, but I started a seed in January and the plant is about 3" tall now.

For me they have been growing rather slowly from seed. Mine are 2 feet tall after 2 years (desert climate). I'm expecting them to pick up speed now that I have planted then in ground.

That's what I've heard. I think I'll buy a larger good variety and then buy butterscotch scions like Satya suggested. Don't want to wait 6 years for fruit by grafting to a seedling.
