Looking for these top fig trees
« on: April 24, 2020, 03:46:04 PM »
Anyone know where I can get these following varieties:
1) Col De Dame(CDD) Gris ( Baud)
2) Bens Golden Riverside
3) Long Yellow
4) Golden Rainbow

I just picked up a Yellow Longneck from Wellspring garden. I don’t know much about figs and I’ve read some of these yellow cigs listed above may be the same variety but I believe the Golden Rainbow is different because it has the red inside.

I’m looking rooted trees and not cuttings. Thanks in advance!

try www.figbid.com

I have some top figs listed on ebay right now, but those are not what you have on your wish list.

By the way Ben's Golden Riverside is the same fig as Golden Rainbow, it was renamed by the owner much after to 'Golden Rainbow'.

Thanks manvfruit! I checked out figbid and they have lots of good stuff. Someone did have the golden rainbow but they’re in Florida and don’t ship to California.

Simon,

I got free pierce cherimoya scions from you some time back.
I should be able to give you these eventually
free at the season end.
There is some talk that yellow long neck might be same
as golden rainbow. I suggest waiting to acquire golden rainbow.
I have both, should be able to tell if same or different this season.

I sent you a PM with an excellent local source.

I've picked up a several cuttings from him this year, all are pushing growth excellently, and should be rooted in a month or two.

You welcome, I would offer you a trade for something, but I only have Golden Riverside USDA version (5 gallon), and I also have a special CDD Gris I am rooting, not sure if it's Baud variety or not but Its reported to be a mutation of the CDD Grise or something like that. I will try to find you a picture of it. I got it because of Joe Hewitt; he probably know more about it than I do. Those are the only two close to your list, but I agree with Mftek, you are missing out top figs.

I have tasted probably around 40  varieties most of which I grew myself here in San Diego, I settled with around 25-30 trees, I am not going name them for the sake of keeping the discussion on topic, but If I have something you like PM me, I am sure we can workout a trade for something who knows! here are pics of some of the figs I grow....

Man, those all look great! All the members have been so helpful!

I got a Yellow Longneck at my house now and another kind member offered me a Golden Rainbow Plant.

I’m just looking for the CDD Gris now but I’m keeping an open mind to other top tier varieties.

I have fruit flies in my area so I’ll have to bag the fruit so I prefer figs that are larger yet sweet and tasty.

I am relatively new to figs and don’t have a complicated palette yet but I like sweet for sure.

I have a VDB, Black Mission, Brown Turkey, Black Madeira grafted onto Brown Turkey, Yellow Longneck and Golden Rainbow now. Are there any other varieties that are good tasting, large, very sweet and juicy and preferably closed eyed?

Thanks in advance to everyone and feel free to derail this thread to let me know what I’m missing out on.

I used to hate figs but bought a giant yellow fig from the Mira Mesa farmers market about 6 years ago and it was super delicious. I’ve been looking for that fig ever since. I think it’s got to be the Yellow Longneck or the Golden Rainbow.
