Satya & Khan, thanks for the response. I'm working out an arrangement with another member for a scion exchange that is in my area. Much appreciated for the offer.

Tropical Fruit Buy, Sell & Trade / WTB: Zill M-4 scions or 3 gal tree
« on: August 31, 2020, 01:21:06 PM »
Hi all,

I'm looking for Zill M-4 mango scions or a 3 gallon tree. I tried Tropical Acre Farms but they are sold out for the season.

Palm Beach County preferred for a tree pickup. For scions, anywhere that can ship.

Does anyone have No Mai Tze lychee trees for sale in the South Florida area? The only place I've found that has it in-stock is Exotica in CA, but they do not ship trees. Pine Island won't have any until maybe 2020.

Yes, buy the  0-3-16 plus micros from Har or Truly tropicals.

If you are dead set on 0-0-50, Helena chemicals,$26.50 a 50 lbs bag is what I paid. They sell it in a few different forms. Ask for the mini, which is granular.

Thanks for the Helena reference. I finally got around to stopping by their Boynton Beach location and opening an account. They did not have the mini in-stock and couldn't source it from their other locations. I ended up with their "Greens Grade" shown below. It was $25.00/bag. How does the grain size compare to the mini?

That's a great deal for someone. I dug up a similar sized Mallika last year when a fellow member extended the same generosity. Mango trees transplant very well this time of year.

When I've done mango tree transplants in the past, I always trim the tree way back and water it multiple times per day for the first few weeks. Never had one die, even when I couldn't keep soil around the root ball during transport.

Thanks zands. As an FYI to others, I called them around lunch time to reserve some bags. They said something along the lines of "I was able to order two bags for a guy yesterday, but we aren't getting any more than that in". He offered to take my number and attempt to add some additional bags to their main order, but I haven't heard back.

Thanks for the feedback Mark and John. I found a forum member to provide the budwood.

Same. Planted a Hasya in 2013. I've gotten a total of 5 fruit. I tried grafting a couple of other varieties onto it but even that has proved tricky. Very high failure rates. I finally got a Makok scion to take, only to have it die off six months later.

Okrung Tong pushing its 3rd bloom in Loxahatchee. No sign of a 3rd bloom on my other trees.

In case you are still interested in Honey Kiss, here are some progress pics. It is planted out in the Loxahatchee area. The owner takes care of it about as well as a forgotten stepchild locked in the attic.

Tropical Fruit Buy, Sell & Trade / Re: Annual Mulch Sale
« on: February 25, 2017, 09:27:12 AM »
The sale is back, at least in Palm Beach and Broward. $1.00 per bag for Timberline Red Mulch. If you want to buy in bulk, there are 65 bags in a pallet and they can fork lift it into your truck/trailer.

Let the hate begin again, lol.

Would now be a good time to apply wettable sulfur (1 tbsp/gal)? Any issues with spraying the panicle directly at this stage of growth?

Some pics of the fruit from the unreleased ZHPP varieties. The pictures are from last season. No idea what the trees themselves look like.

Cotton Candy

K-3

28-18 (I think this is Phoenix - Rob can correct me if I'm wrong)

Of the mangos mentioned in this thread, including the unreleased varieties, I'd still vote Sweet Tart. K-3 was my favorite among the newer bunch though.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: Liquid Copper Fungicide...

Nice find. Good info..

I just realized my last reply was a bit vague. When I said "Trees in this area do poorly...", by "area" I meant a particular section of my property. I have other trees located elsewhere on my acre that do well, including some close to a large pond. This problem section was subject to a large amount of fill being brought in years ago from a source high in CA. The high CA in the test result does not surprise me (though it does disappoint me, lol). The tree decline comes in the form of stunted leaf development and leaf burn (beginning from leaf tips/edges and moving inward).

Awesome, thanks Jeff. I'll give them a shot. Their report looks more detailed than UF's.

UF Report (modified slightly for brevity) -

Side note, I think the extremely high calcium is locking up the potassium and phosphorus. Trees in this area do poorly and some even die out.

My soil tests are in.

Hello Jeff, do you mind sharing the name of the lab that you used for the soil test & the cost?
