Spaugh, I guess "Bacon" is the "Tommy Atkins" of avocados? Not sure outside California though. Chris

That seems to be a general trend, some of the most productive bloom/fruit trees have average taste.  I don't mind if an excellent fruit tree is a shy producer since I only grow for my family.  Nice progress on your orchard, everything is really growing!

The bacon tree is supposed to be a good B type pollinator tree.  Also have one fuerte tree that is supposed to be a pollinator.  I will let the tree grow one more year before holding fruit.  The 2 year old Hass trees are massive.  They should set a lot of fruits this year.

spaugh, do you think I get some scion wood from you later on this year.  I have a 30' unknown monster avocado tree that is blooming like mad right now.  I been thinking about cocktailing it for ages now - the fable 24/7 avocado tree will that produces all years long.

Sure, I don't know much about grafting but the trees are already pruned now.  They are going to grow hard until October or so then need to be pruned more then.
