Temperate Fruit Discussion / Nectarines cracking
« on: May 01, 2019, 10:24:40 PM »
Tree is 18 months in ground.  Was a bare root twig and has grown amazing.  It set at least 100 fruits but many of them are cracking.  Most of the cracked fruit is on the south and west (sunny side) of tree.  Its a arctic star nectarine.  I think its on citation rootstock but would have to double check to be certain on the rootstock.  Any ideas on why they crack?

Tropical Fruit Buy, Sell & Trade / Grafted cherimoya trees
« on: April 26, 2019, 02:40:21 PM »
I have a few 1 gallon cherimoya knight grafted on cherimoya rootstock for sale.  20$ plus shipping.  They are very small trees so I can ship them.  Knight is a top quality fruit, possibly the same as pierce.  Its from the same original ranch for sure.  The bud wood came off my knight tree that makes exceptional 30+ brix fruit. This is the best annona I have had easily.

Will post pics of the trees later but they are about 1ft or 18" tall and grafts are just starting to grow leaf sets.  I can hold them for a few weeks to let more leaves come in if you want.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Pineapple pups
« on: April 15, 2019, 04:51:48 PM »
Sugarloaf and tropic gold offsets with roots.  Plants come bare root or wrapped in potting soil in a bag.  Pineapples are very tough, they can be bare rooted without damage.  They like to be grown more like a cactus or succulwnt than a tropical tree.

7$ each plus shipping.

Tropical Fruit Buy, Sell & Trade / Asunta #3 dragonfruit 5ft tall
« on: March 15, 2019, 11:27:44 AM »
I had an extra one of these if anyone local wants it for 25$  Just planted one on a support yesterday.

Its 5ft tall and should produce fruit this year if you get it set up on a support.  The plant is pretty vigorous.  I haven't tried it but there was a report on here from a few years ago that it has a brix of 23 which is as high as any dragonfruit.  And the fruits are pretty large and flowers are purple.  Seems like a great DF to grow.  Its one of Edgar's rosses.

Tropical Fruit Buy, Sell & Trade / Lemon Zest mango tree
« on: February 10, 2019, 11:10:20 AM »
Lemon Zest tree grafted in September 30th 2018.  Tree is flushing nicely.  Its on a very vigorous Kent rootstock that was grown from seed last summer.  Only the fastest growing rootstocks got grafted late last year.  Will need to be kept in a greenhouse or indoors for a few months to avoid flowering.  It's in a Stuewe tall tree pot.  This is super nice tree.  If no one buys its getting planted here in a couple months.

100$ local pickup.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Loquat grafting, when?
« on: January 18, 2019, 11:38:16 AM »
Can I do it now or is it better to wait for warmer weather?  The trees are flushing and in a fairly vigorous state right now.  Im looking to graft wood from one tree onto another then remove one tree.

Does the wood need to be hardened off to use as scions?

Got to try some llama, atemoya, sugar apple?, and cherimoya.  Have only had cherimoyas in the past.

The others were not even in the same league as the cherimoya.  Was going to grow some llamas and atemoyas but not now.
