I’ve only tasted this one...
it was very sweet (but flavor could be attributed to the climate it was grown in) with larger seeds than the standard white and red Hylocereus dragon fruit that I grow.

Here are the seedlings.

Hmmm... I have seedlings going from these fruits that I bought here in L.A., same company from Ecuador. As far as I know they are Selenicereus megalanthus.
I never thought about looking at their site. Now I’m wondering what I have.

Last year I bought a Sugar Cane Jujube tree in a five gallon container at the CRFG booth at the Green Scene and this year I finally got around to planting it out. This started coming up near the trunk and initially I thought it was a sucker from the rootstock. Upon closer inspection it looks decidedly leguminous.
The leaves at this point remind me of a peanut. I’m thinking whoever grew it might have thrown in other seed that only now has germinated.

Any guesses?

Mine aren’t showing any thorn-like structures yet... but I know plenty of other elaeagnus have thorns so I would not be surprised if I saw them.

Yes, Rose Apple tastes exactly like what a rose smells like if it were a fruit and slightly sweet.

There was someone on the growing fruit forum from West Virginia, that posted in a “what’s this bug” thread. It was without a doubt Asian Citrus Psyllid. He had his citrus trees indoors for the winter and had no idea how he got them.
So the insect that carries HLB is definitely getting around.  :-\

I wonder how it would take to Texas persimmon (Diospyros texana)?

Since it grows farther north it might help a little with zone pushers... also it is a smaller tree, maybe it would act as a dwarfing rootstock.

I have read that quince can be used as a (dwarfing) rootstock for loquat, so I’m sure loquat could be a rootstock for quince.

I have two year old plants growing from seed in pots. They are vigorous growers once they get going. No fruit yet, I’m hopeing at the three year mark I will be seeing some flowers and fruit.

Yes, I prune mine back the first week of February. The reason people in colder climates pinch the growing tips is so that the fig tree’s energy goes to the existing fruit. No point in letting the tree put all that energy into growing fuit that will never ripen.
