Picture of my Mom's Maha
« on: June 02, 2012, 06:14:49 PM »
Here is a picture of my mom's Maha which I just planted.  Finally had a break in the rain in Boynton Beach.  Hopefully the HOA Gestapo won't see it and make her take it out.  Behind it is a Jaboticaba.

Greg, that's a NICE looking Mango tree...I think your Mom should be okay with the HOA...especially since you planted it in the backyard. She should be enjoying some mangoes in a couple of years.

Pug that baby!  My Neelam was even taller when I purchased it, but I chopped off the top two-thirds.  I'm glad I did, as it has branched nicely.

I hope the HOA board is composed of nice people.  The average HOA would not hesitate to send her a letter demanding that she remove the fruit trees! >:(

That's a fine looking tree. Love the color and size of the newer leaves at the top of the tree.

Flew home to California today and prior to leaving I pugged her Maha.  The first thing I did when I got home is I grafted her scion onto my Ewais.

By the way, when staking a mango, it is highly recommended not to stake it as shown in the picture,  You run a serious risk of the plant snapping in half.  You should always run the stake up against the trunk and tie the stake directly to the trunk.

Hope you had a safe trip...I think you did the right thing pugging it and will look even better once it gets growing. Good luck with your graft!
