Lime ID help Label says Tohai
« on: December 29, 2017, 02:37:37 PM »
I began caring for a subtropical fruit orchard planted by a rare fruit grower 5-7 years ago. Most all tree's are labeled. The orchard was in serious decline after not being watered for 2 years of drought.
I started taking care in September 2016 and am starting to see a good crop of fruits holding and ripening .
One is pictured below and labeled TOHAI. I've never heard of it. It's acidic but not bitter and 1 seed in the fruits I cut open. It's pictured next to a Bearrs lime for color contrast. Note the heart shaped characteristic like the "Valentine" when cut open. Anyone heard of this Lime?

Do the leaves have a very large petiole?  If so it  could well be a Kaffir Lime.

Yeah, I bet it is Kaffir lime, also known as Thai lime.  Maybe the "O" in "Tohai" went to a party and came home on the wrong label...
