Yesterday I was at a nursery in NJ that had a large calomondin in a container.  An employee told me it was ~40yrs old if I heard her right.   I had never seen one this large.

I have a calamondin in a container that is about 30 years old and that size but not as bushy.

Here's a kumquat, mandarinquat, and calamondin grown from seed:

I have a few calomondins, but here is the largest one.  It is a bit lopsided but has been very healthy.  It appears to have been grown from a cutting, in fact I guess this is the norm as all of my calomondins look that way.  I don't remember how old it is, 3-4yrs maybe.

Look at the difference between the leaves of these two mandarinquats grown from seed, one looks like mandarin leaves, the other has narrower leaf shape that looks like kumquat. Both seeds came from the same batch of fruit.



It will be interesting to see what the fruits look like.
(kumquat/mandarinquat tend to start fruiting young, so shouldn't be too long of a wait)

I love those terracotta pots brian....I have a few that size and smaller ....My favorite pot.....i have two calamondins as well.....my friend made marmalade  out of them for me
