Frist Mangos
« on: May 31, 2018, 10:25:57 AM »
I got two Angie . No flavor . Sappidilla the same bland. We have got 26 inches of rain in may. I think my whole mango crop is a loss. And I shot two squirrels.

"And I shot two squirrels." no offence to pest lovers, but this is priceless!  I hate them, they have destroyed my yard and stonefruits.

That's just sad about the mangoes. Did you eat the squirrels?

Mine is producing well, it is still a young tree, maybe year 3 or 4 out of a 3 gallon. Slow growing in my yard.

Tree rat, or mango tree itself since you're mad at them for producing poorly  ;D ;D

I have 2 Angie in the ground ,Maybe 3 years old seem to produce a good crop. I am south of palm city and north of Indian town. Around 15 miles from the ocean .

Not mad at trees. I shoot squirrels all year long. You cant grow fruit trees and feed squirrels

My first season mangoes are coming from two trees  --  Carrie and Fairchild.  These two trees should start really dropping and presenting ripe on tree next week

Francis Hargrave & Pickering 👍

A good contrast. Sterile lawns across the pond-canal from you while you have thriving fruit trees producing. Nice border blocks around your fruit trees to humor your HOA. I did the same.

I have a Pickering mango tree and a sapodilla tree right outside my bedroom window and shading my bedroom window. Both are not more than 10 ft away/
With a Keitt mango tree and Gold Nugget mango tree looming close in the background about 20 ft away.

I need to be near Trees!

I had it all planned out in my mind before we built the house , I literally removed all the landscaping that came with the new house including the huge Queen palm trees towering over 5he house , I could see that all 3 where root bound when they planted them and got a bad felling in my stomach of 5hese giants falling on my house !.

I had them removed and planted a triple Madagascar spindle palms in its place .
Also removed 5he ugly shrubs they okanted around the house and planted Plumeria and Hibiscus all around the house 👍

Very sorry about your bland mango Treesnmore  :'( ...my mangoes I'm sure are going to be in the same situation. I haven't had as much rain as you've had but I've had over 16 inches of rain in a little over 2 weeks. My mangoes won't be ready for at least 2-4 weeks.  2 Cogshall, a Glenn and a small Maha...It's a shame since we wait all year for our mangoes and between the squirrels, raccoons, too much rain...**sigh**

Very pretty Hibiscus Ed and nice looking mangoes, I hope yours have more flavor and not watered down  :)

Spoke too soon, I received 6" of rain Friday night ( in 3 hours) which brings my total rainfall to 22" in less than 3 weeks  :'( :'(
I LOVE rain but it's going to to do a lot of damage to the mango flavor!
