I am jealous. :( Only place that has them up here is whole foods.
$10 a pound and the fruits are rock hard.

They should be hard when you get them.  They have to soften up like an avocado.  But 10$ is $$$

Its worth it to at least try them though.

Would that not impact the taste too much? Whole foods imports them from Chile, which I'd assume means they are picked super early. I'd hate to judge a fruit just because I've tried an inferior quality one from a retail store. Everything I grow tastes several times better than what I find in stores and I'm sure that's the same for most fruits.

I bought 2 cherimoya from Santa Barbara Exotics for $5.99/lb last week at Sprouts

Never buy an imported Chilean Cherimoya if you want a positive impression of the fruit.

You could drop a note or talk to produce damager and let them know whats up and beg them to order from SB exotics. The whole foods here can stock them, no reason yours can’t source the good ones too.

I'll have to check them out again soon. My closest whole foods, sprouts, etc are about an hour away. Haha
