Where should I prune this mango?
« on: February 12, 2019, 04:20:07 PM »
There are several branches growing outward and one going up.  Should I cut the one going up close to the others?

You are going to get differing opinions but it looks like the branches are quite close to the ground.  I would probably let it grow for a summer then prune all the branches off below 2ft from the ground keeping the central leader and let it branch up higher.

Is that a cogshall? I'm not entirely sure I'd prune it quite yet.

I agree with the above. I’d wait until it gets about 4’ high give or take.

OK. Cogshall has a natural tendency towards dense branching. I would probably just let it do its thing.

Yes, Cogshall.
