Genuine Buddy Tape for Grafting - Received!
« on: April 05, 2012, 04:30:00 PM »
Anyone here interested in buying Genuine Buddy Tape for grafting? I can have it to you for $20 plus shipping (actual, which is $3) and not that $9-$10 that most charge.  I need few people to make it happen.

Please post here if interested.

I will take 1 roll. That is a good price! Most retail outlets are charging close to $40 for one roll.

Thanks,

Most if you dont know, Buddy Tape unlike Parafilm that is continuous has strips in rolled form, each strip is 2-3/4" long 1" wide and has best elasticity. This comes directly from the manufacturer. All I am trying to do is facilitate this for us and others at price that most cant get. The same tape from AM Leonard costs over $30 including shipping.

Yeah I know! I paid Peaceful Valley Nursery almost $40 for the roll I am using now. I think it is the best grafting product out there! (just my opinion) I have great results wrapping my scion and graft union with the Buddy Tape. Then it just rots off and doesn't have to be unwrapped!

I found a place that is selling buddy tape for about $24.50 to FL with shipping. http://www.gvbud.com/website-store.htm

$23 doesn't seem worth the extra time of going through a middle man.

So from what I gather.. Buddy Tape is practically the same thing as parafilm except that is it perforated? Is that correct? I still have a few hundred feet of parafilm that I don't mind cutting into strips whenever I need a piece. Maybe when I run out I will buy buddy tape instead.

Good find! When I was looking for a roll I searched all over and couldn't find a decent price without buying 8 rolls! Now it is popping up every where!

Buddy Tape is a thinner product than parafilm M. I have also had superior results using Buddy Tape veruses Parafilm. I threw away a large roll of parafilm becauseof the rate of graft fails once the parafilm M gets to old. Once it is to old you will see your # of graft failures increase because the parafilm will suffocate your scions!

Something doesnt seem right in that listing. it says 70M, which is 3.28 feet x 70 = 229.6 Feet, Buddy tape is 130' only, Before you buy, confirm, you dont want a knock-off.

Interesting.. Maybe I can blame my recent failures on the old parafilm!  ;D

I think I may have to get some buddy tape now if it is indeed thinner.

I just stretch the parafilm before wrapping to thin it down.

I do the same but Parafilm snaps easily, and then I end up using more than I am suppose to. I got this monster rool that is 2" wide, makes it harder to work with.

The Buddy Tape is still even thinner when you stretch it. You stretch it and it bonds to itself just like the parafilm but much thinner.

Sheehan how old is your parafilm?

Older (2+ year old) parafilm will snap easily. I haven't had much trouble with newer rolls though. 20$ sounds like a great price though.

My offer above of $20 is not for making money, just trying to make sense and have our group enjoy, remaining ones I can throw on Amazon and sell cheaper than those who are ripping others. I talked to manufacturer's main distributor and got prices. if you buy 8000 plus rolls, you can get it for $11/ea. LOL

S h e e h a n,

$1.50 saved is a $1.50 earned...I'd rather deal with a person, than a company.  The website doesn't even have a phone number to call...I hate that.

Tim,

Go ahead and get interested...and pull the trigger...this stuff totally out performs parafilm...its stronger, stretchier, and has better biodegradability.

You can also use this tape to wrap the graft union, and of course the scion...try doing that with parafilm.

The extra money spent on this product saves time, not needing two rolls of tape, or to have to reach for another roll of tape...delaying the delicate process of splicing two plants together.

At first the Real buddy tape is a bit weird and difficult to work with, especially if u are used to grafting with conventional tapes...but you'll get the hang of it quickly..you can learn to modify the way the tape is being pulled, so it can be pulled very tight, for tension wrapping graft unions, or it can be stretched extremely thin, to cover the most fragile developing buds, so they can stay moist, before bursting out of this super thin tape.

GET IT !!  IT'S THE BEST!!
