I got one from Pepe's yesterday that looks very nice. Photos will come as soon as I receive some instructions in posting them!

You're in prime persimmon country in SO-CAL! I've eaten many a Hachiya in my youth, even in the ghetto of South Gate, which wasn't a ghetto back then (50's, 60's, 70's). Neighbors would be like, "Yeah, take 'em. We don't really like 'em that much."
I looked up the Wikipedia entry for 'ghetto' and found East Los Angeles listed as an example :-)
