Cleaning cacao seeds?

Anyone have any tips on the best way to clean these gooey little suckers?  Just got a pod and the seeds are soaking.

EDIT:  I want to clean them so I can sprout and plant them.

Why do you want to clean them?
Some people suck the pulp off and that will clean them somewhat.
Cacao is normally fermented without water to process.
To plant the seeds they don’t need to be cleaned.

I just leave on the bench for a few hours until the gooey part dries slightly then scratch the whole membrane off around the seed. You need long nails to do 😄

I might try that, I was going the other direction, soaking them to try and loosen it up.   I know if the seed dries out, it may not sprout.

Simply plant without cleaning them.  We do this routinely on a large scale to have rootstock for grafting

Thank you. I’ll take your word for that. So I take it cacao is not true to seed?

True to seed if you only have one variety
They cross bread quite easily if there is more than one variety
