Miami - Need a temporary tree arrangement
« on: June 21, 2017, 01:56:41 AM »
Title pretty much says it.

I have about 50+ potted trees that I need to store on someone's property for a month or two while we get moved.  I have nowhere to put them, and cannot leave them where I am any longer.

I want to do this locally, so Homestead (preferably) or somewhere in South Miami.

I don't mind paying a reasonable amount for this favor, or letting you take all the scions, fruit and seeds you like--or both.

But I need to make this happen and fast. Very fast.

Thanks to my forum family for any assistance on this matter.

Hi Adam, I wish I could help, but I'm way too far away with a typical cookie cutter lot. But I wanted to say, what a GREAT idea it is to have someone babysit plants for a while. I have done this for neighbors and on occasions they just let me have the plants which were unfortunately ornamental plants :-)

I hope someone can help you out.
Regards,

   Gary

They are potted, well groomed, pest and disease free.  Everything from stonefruits to mangosteen.

I'm sure I have roughly $10K worth of trees in this lot (many very, very hard to find ones too).  So believe me, this is something I don't take lightly.  It is either find a sitter, or I may be forced to throw them away this week and watch all my hard work growing these specimens go down the tube.

Hopefully someone can help.

Hi Adam
I am 2+ hours away. I have the room as you know you visited once. I live next to commercial groves that surely
have greening. Hell my citrus has greening.

Hey Adam
Have you talked to a realtor about renting a spot in your area for 1-3 months? They might know where
you could rent temporarily with a water source?

Would be willing to help but on the opposite coast in cape coral. I work at home so am always around, other than fairly frequent business travel though i doubt watering will be an issue this summer in any case. Have purchased the vacant lot next to me which i'm turning into an orchard so plenty of room for storage there. Its far but if no other option feel free to drop me a line.

Thanks guys.   I'm wanting to try to find a spot here locally so I can go by and hug and kiss my trees every so often like we all do.  I mean, you do, right?

Anyhow, if I can't by tomorrow, I'll be willing to take the two hour trip this Friday.  I owe you some trees anyhow Mike.

Will be glad when I get the new plot so I can plant some of these pot dwellers.

I'd be happy to help, although i do live in Coral Spring and depending on the size of the potted plants I may not have enough room.
Also, just install a drip irrigation system but I don't think i have enough equipment to extend it to 50 pots.

Up to you

Miami-Homestaed is full of nurseries and farms. Why not drive around and ask if they have room. Have $500 cash in your pocket to offer as rent. Maybe drive to Pine Island nursery and ask. You have to ask in person. This would not work over the phone.  Bring some photos of your plants you can show the nursery or farm owner.

Nurseries won't be able to accept my plants because I have over 20 citrus.
