Brix readings for some fruits this season
« on: November 01, 2017, 10:31:24 PM »
Just for fun, with our portable refractometer we have taken some comparative brix readings with some of this seasons fruits from our farm.  These are just a few of the fruits and specifically those that are not only sweet but have a tangy aspect to their flavor balance.
G. prainiana 16
Rambutan.  19
Mangosteen. 22
Longan.        22
Pulusan.        28
What do you think, I will add some more as they become available.

Curious as to what your cempedak reading is? The fruit was fantastic. Btw everything arrived & survived in 11 days. Your farm is spectacular & can't wait to visit again in the future. Thanks for everything!

Thanks for the readings! I’ve never tried Pulusan but I’ll definitely be on the lookout next time I go to Asia.

I never knew a fruit more than 20º Brix, here, many of them gave me those numbers: strawberry guava, guaviyú, pitanga and so on, but never 28º B!

I think that sweet grapes will register pretty high brix.
In the future I am going to test the brix on some very sweet fruits like marang/terap, champedek, etc.
