Free Lemon Zest mango budwood
« on: April 16, 2016, 10:52:21 PM »
I will send Lemon Zest mango budwood to anyone outside of the US for free, just pay the cost of shipping.

For anyone in the US, I'll charge $1 per piece of Lemon Zest budwood + cost of shipping.

If you're in CA and renounce all Cali cultivars I'll send you the budwood for only the cost of shipping.

Edit: No more budwood available for now. I'll post again in a few weeks.

How is lemon zest against anthracnose?

My 3 LZ trees have been very thracnose resistant. They will get powdery mildew though.

Same here. It gets powdery mildew every year but I don't spray with sulfur and it seems to set fruit fine even with the powdery mildew. Squam actually pointed out to me at his farm that a few cultivars will set fruit regardless of the powdery mildew. I guess LZ may be one of them.

Jeff, have you had the same experience with it setting even with powdery mildew?

edit: This year I sprayed with Serenade to prevent the powdery mildew, a microbial biofungicide comprised of Bacillus subtilis, and the fruit set seems to be the same as the years where I didn't spray anything.

I'm curious whether Equisetum (Horsetail) tea works to deal with powdery mildew in mangos just as it does for squash -- the general idea is to make a stew out of the Horsetail and then spray it on, mostly as a preventative measure rather than after the mildew has spread.
