Thanks for these beautiful fruit. I am going to let them get a bit wrinkle before I eat them, they are almost too beautiful to cut into them. :)
How many vines do you have? My vine only produced about 8 this year (second year in the ground) I let them wrinkle so much before I ate them that I thought them may be rotten, but they were perfect inside. I hope next year I will get more, but mine only get a little purple not as beautiful as yours. Thanks again!

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Spanish Tamarind seeds
« on: February 20, 2019, 07:08:42 PM »
Hi, I was in El Salvador and a friend gave me a few of these fruit. They do taste just like regular tamarind, but are different shape. I found some information in goggle. Its name is "Vangueria Madagascariensis"
I want to grow the seeds but I need to know more information about it, I didn't find much info on line. Thanks

Jeff, when you say "a few pounds a year" for a small tree, do you mean? 10, 20, 30lbs? and how often should it be spread around the tree, all at once? or a couple of pounds every two week? I just planted my first one last month so I want to make sure it gets what it needs to prosper. :) Thanks in advance! XE

Thanks to both of you for the information. I will be patient and prune accordingly. :)

I have a mission fig in a 30 gal pot that is not producing any fruit. It looks nice and healthy but its just full of leaves. Its been there about 2 years and have only gotten one little fig so far. What am I doing wrong? I live in Phoenix AZ. so I put it under partial shade. Any suggestions are welcome. :)

In El Salvador they are called "mamon" but they are sweet. I guess its like the Tamarind, we only have it sour and I didn't know that there was a sweet version of them. :) and the trees are huge! :)
