Those Star Apples look great Mike. Nice size. Beautiful colors.  The one's I've seen around Northern NSW lately in this drought without irrigation have been ripening at the size of a ping pong ball.

I really like the R2E2, but heard even superior varieties are available already.

Supermarket mangoes are pretty big and the equivalent of about US$1 each atm.

Nice diversity and rich market.
Prices are like in European supermarkets.

Loved the sign on the "Jabatocava"(Interesting spelling)--"EAT THE LOT."  Someone might interpret that as eat all of them (rather than just one entire fruit)!  At least in USA they would.

You friend managed to forage all those mangoes? Are there mangoes growing wild in areas around you?
If so i'm moving to Australia.

In my neighbourhood there are at least 20 mango trees in fruit in public areas and they are ripening right now.Around the corner from me one park has 5 large KP trees. What my friend got is chicken feed off one tree near his house.I'll get more than that in 20 minutes this morning. One public area with a park about a mile away has at least 9 huge trees that are loaded.
The sugarcane is a clumping village type use for cooking and juice in New Guinea.

Nice Mike
Do durian, mangosteen, lansium, etc appear in Rusty's market as well?  What kind of price do they fetch.  Let’s keep in mind that the Aussie $ is around US .65 I believe.
Thanks,
Peter

Yes and in Aus $ durian of various types is around 8 to 12/kg in January to about April. Mangosteens are 7 to 12/kg and lansium are less frequent and around 10/kg. They are a bit pricey for most people.

Maybe in your neck of the woods Mike....by the time The Queen of fruits gets to me in Brizzy she's close to the end of her reign. I reckon Sydney and Melbourne gets the best stock outside of Cairns.  I'm looking at 22/KG thereabouts locally, and it's a crap shoot. A lot of them are past their prime by a long way. I'd say only 1/3 are really good, at least that's how it is from my local Woolies.

Fresh fruit doesn’t travel well, too bad.
But if mangosteen are retailing at $7-12 in Cairns they must wholesell for a lot less.  Air shipping can’t be sooo expensive.  Gouging gives rare fruits a bad reputation.  Overpriced fruits sit there and get older and when someone does buy them....
