Hey Gary

yes, they are as good as advertised unfortunately I only have room for 2 guavas and they are both are superior to Allahabad Safeda. Btw, I tested 9-10 guavas and kept the best and got rid of the rest.

The ones I kept are Jalisco Red and Thai cream. You would be totally happy with Safeda they are excellent! They are large you can eat them crunchy or soft they are wonderful! Here are some that he share with me why would I need a tree :D

Allhabad RED is not the Safeda variety which is what Ashok has. I think the red is called Allahabad Surkha. Have been trying to get this one for sometimes now with no luck at all.

I asked because I saw the  ALLAHABAD RED on EBAY. The seller has a big price on them but it looks as if they are very negotiable. I have several common varieties here (mexican cream, Thai white, lemon, strawberry, pink) and truthfully I must not have a discriminating palette because I love all those that fruited so far.

Maybe Rob can weigh in here on some unusual and flavorful locally available guavas?

Thera is right . His Allahabad Safeda is white. According to AZ the red is inferior his tree is prolific much better than most red guavas like indian red, Hong Kong pink, Ruby Supreme , Mexixan Cream and others I've grown and fruited. Here are pix of his branch breaker Allahabad Safeda

I might've been wrong he probably harvest way more than 300 huge guavas

So far i havent had any problems with scale or any fruot bugs but ive bagged the thai white as a prophylactic measure. The lemon and strawberry have been clean without any protection.
