Tips for growing Abiu in CA
« on: February 27, 2022, 07:03:45 PM »
Hi,

Is there anyone here in San Diego have successfully grown the Abiu? I've seen so many YouTube videos from people in Hawaii, Florida, Colombia, and Vietnam, had great success growing the Abiu. Are the Abiu growable in San Diego? So far, I went through at least 4 Abiu trees, purchased from Florida, and its not doing too well here in San Diego. The leaves tend to get crispy and the new growth gets really mushy, then turn brown, and eventually fall off. If anyone had successfully grown the Abiu here in SoCal, please share any tips or experience growing the Abiu tree.
Thanks,

Kevin

I’ve failed at growing abiu here in Phoenix. I chalk up the failure to lack of humidity and too cold sensitive. The two abiu trees I had were seedlings from Zills.

All I can say is I have killed a bunch over the years. They don’t seem to like our soil, our water or the cold winters.

Cheers,
