Is there a lychee cultivar that has a rose water flavor ?.

My little tree produced 3 fruits  :'( and it did not taste like the typical store bought lychee, it was like sugary rose water with some lychee flavor  :P.

Thanks Simon

I believe mine is Huerng Lai with undeveloped seeds. The good thing about it, it does not need so much chill hours to flower.

Birds here are not much of a problem on lychees except for when they get super ripe. So just by picking them before that stage can avoid losing most of the fruits to birds. They often split also when super ripe and then attract fruit flies and other insects.
BTW the Sweetheart seems to be a real winner here. Has fruited 3 years in a row. Most lychees don't perform consistently here due to warm and wet winters. Sweetheart is good, but not nearly as good in my opinion as a Kaimana. But so far it seems to be more consistent bearing here than even the Kaimana.

Well so far I've lost about 1/3 of the fruits on the tree. Between the birds and the squirrels (I'm tired of chasing them off) several times a day.

I forgot I have some of the shiny holographic tape that bradflorida mentioned, Thanks Brad for reminding me  :)

Hubby put a bunch on the tree so hopefully I will get to eat at least 1/3 of what's left...Fingers crossed!!

Thanks for sharing your thoughts, ideas and experience. Good Luck to all of us!

Sorry to hear about that 1/3 lost of fruits. Now, this holographic tape idea is interesting. Let us know how  your luck is with this tape, I am anxious to hear the result, Pug! My Mauritius fruits are still about pea size at a.t.m. ...
