I think growing the White Jaboticaba is a wonderful plant to grow for the beautiful new growth as well as the fruit! Mine is loving all this rain we are getting!

true indeed Ed!

the foliage is super attractive...and the fruits are very sweet...low tannin.

seems to be very productive like Red jaboticaba...can fruit almost continually...maybe this is where the Red jaboticaba gets it's everbearing traits?
M. aureana is supposedly a component of the Red Jabo (hybrid m. cauliflora)

Glad you posted this Ed , now I can bother you guys with questions from a desperate M. aureana grower ......

First lets agree this is a BRANCA

Pics below after pruning and before pruning  - opening up the now 4 meter tree .

Detail of leaf .

And this may be another one , is a different tree a lot smaller , same age 1/2 the size .

None of the 2 ( so they say fast fruiting ) doesn’t even show a sign of flowering .

Some guys in Brazil say they need a 2 month without water to start flowering , I have been overwatering maybe ??

It's branca

Have one tree(the largest of all my trees in a 25 gal, about 8ft tall)

Has not flowered yet..but another 2 trees about 6ft fall from the same batch have been fruiting since last year.

They are all pushing 7-8yrs old

I have seen an aureana only 3.5ft tall with a trunk caliper of only 1inch fruiting!

It must have to do with luck of the draw, and seedling variation (this species is amazingly variable)

I doubt it has to do with restricting water, I've kept mine irrigated consistently, and they seem to enjoy it (they keep fruiting and flowering)

2 months without watering? Wouldn't they be dead in Pto. Vallarta without water for that long? I will let you know soon if it's true, because if it is they will NEVER fruit here.  :'(  But, like Adam, i think it's wrong. Maybe they meant 2 weeks dry period to initiate flowering?

yes...i have aureana from several different sources, and the leaf shape can be quite variable...some more bullate than others, some larger than others, some rounder, some longer....but all of the trees seem to have a yellow/green bark.
