kumquat tree good for rootstock?

(1/1)

luak:
I am wondering of I could use it for lemons to graft to, have budwood Santa Teresa and Meyer available.

Laaz:
Never used it, but always worth a try.

Millet:
Kumquat would be very low on my list as a rootstock.  Actually I have never read nor heard of kumquat ever being used as a rootstock.

Yorgos:
I stand by my meiwa kumquat starting in late November, early December, eating fruit after fruit, spitting the seeds out onto the ground yet I never get any seedlings.  Same with my chang-shou kumquat.  Even throwing blemished fruit down and they never send up volunteer seedlings.  Are kumquats particular as to sprouting conditions?

Citradia:
I bet the kumquat is to light of a framework to support the heavier metabolic needs of most other citrus. The leaves and branches on my meiwa are dainty compared to my satsumas branches.
