Myrciaria vexator seeds only 25 total
« on: January 15, 2013, 07:45:35 PM »
hello,

I have 25 Myrciaria vexator seeds for sale.  $2 each, minimum order of 5 seeds ($10 plus shipping)

Shipping will be usps, and you can select the speed and cost of service.

I would prefer to sell these seeds to those who live in the USA.

I couldn't clean off the pulp all the way, too much work...so they won't be free of pulp, but they'll certainly be viable.

please email or post here for details.

thanks!

Adam

A tip for cleaning vexator seeds, use the rough side of a sponge. I just cleaned about 40 vexator seeds this afternoon and they were pretty much pulp free and smooth when I was done.

Sheehan,

Thanks for the suggestion, but I tried that...I got sick of it after the first seed, and didn't even fully clean off that one.

It must be a chore I hate to do.  I never do it for my myricaria seeds that I plant, and I get wonderful germination rates, thank God.  If not, I' might have to learn how to properly clean seeds.

If I were planting the seed myself or mailing it within the US I probably wouldn't clean them off either because it is very time consuming. I am mailing the seeds internationally though so I try to remove any plant matter to avoid any rot.

Do you know why some of the vexator seeds split in half while others appear to be whole without any indication of a point of separation?

I'm not sure what you mean, but I will say this, the seeds definitely remind me of Plinia edulis, M. glazioviana, and a few others...nothing like the soft seeds of M. cauliflora, M. jaboticaba, and M. trunciflora, and others.

I've seen two seeds, side by side, who's combined size was the same as a single normal sized seed...and the seeds were almost like an identical twin (egg in the womb, after it splits)...maybe this is what you are referring to?

they all seem to sprout up as a single plant!  I guess they're monoembryonic?  I should know this...I just gave a speech on Jaboticabas :-[  ;D

Yes the seeds definitely remind me of Plinia edulis. The split I was referring to is in some fruit there is one giant seed, while in other fruit there are two seeds that are joined but once you apply some pressure, they split and the area that they were touching is clean from pulp. Are they two separate seeds, or are they one seed that split in formation? Out of the 40 or so fruit that I cleaned, only 5 had the dual seed.

Cambuca, sabara, grimal and trunciflora all break in half easily (like a peanut) to reveal a deep purple color. Both halves can grow.I have observed this recently.

Mike

I agree with all but cambucas...those have been hard as a rock for me.

Murahilin,

yes I know what your talking about. They must be two seeds from one embryo, like an identical twin...maybe I'm wrong.

I think for cambuca to split it takes just a bang in the wrong spot like most jaboticabas.
