Tropical Fruit Discussion / Mango flowering in October
« on: October 10, 2018, 05:03:20 PM »
It appears that I have one branch from the whole tree flowering...seems kinda weird. I stopped fertilizing September 15. It is one of those Manila Seedlings from Home Depot. I am going to assume this has happened before to other people and would possibly know what is going on here.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Nabal vs Holiday
« on: January 16, 2018, 09:10:29 PM »
Just out of curiosity which tree/avocado would be the one to have?
Aside from the holiday being a smaller tree...how do they compare? I believe the reed comes from Nabal and the holiday comes from Reed. Are the three just about the same avocado? Also, according to this chart  http://www.ocfruit.com/files/Avocados.htm
they have about the same season. Any suggestions/input is highly appreciated.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Passiflora Ligularis / Sweet Granadilla
« on: December 02, 2016, 09:52:02 AM »

Just wondering if there is anyone out there in Southern California that has had success with Passiflora ligularis - Sweet granadilla. Just purchased a couple of them and any hints or tips on growing them would be appreciated. I have done a search about it but most results came back with negative results and most people saying it will not grow well in SoCal.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Mango Trees Eaten by Dobermans Please HELP
« on: November 03, 2016, 02:20:28 AM »
Hello. This is my first post and it is a sad one. Was wondering if i should just throw these trees to the trash after my Dobermans decided it was a toy. I had just bought them. It was a Kesar in a 7 gallon and a Glenn in a 3 gallon. I was very mad when i got home and saw this. Dobermans are in timeout. Any help would be appreciated as i am just now getting started with growing fruit trees. Will they eventually grow back? should i just go buy new trees? is there anyone who can help me? ill take the trees to you and see if you can work any magic. I am in the Los Angeles area about 15 mins from LAX. Thanks in advance. Please send me an email at   alangr088@hotmail.com   if you feel you can help me out.....here is a link to the video of the damage
