from what i've heard, the tree should be just as cold hearty as M. glazioviana, or even stronger....(m. glazioviana can withstand about 26-28F without dying, but sometimes will have severe damage depending on size of plant, and duration of cold.)

i've also heard that M. guaquiea is generally more precocious than M. glazioviana fruiting from seed in about 3yrs. (glazioviana takes about 3-5, in my area)

of course guaquiea has smaller seeds and more edible pulp!

not sure about pH sensitivity, but I'm assuming it's much like M. glazioviana.

I should have some seeds left....just send me an email to make a reservation....and I will let you know asap!

It seems to me that Myrciaria guaquiea  is superior to glazioviana in just about every way. Hardiness, flesh-seed ratio, precociousness.

If they are similar, then why should I bother with a glazioviana? Strigipipes is possibly in the same boat here.

A lot of people don't like glazioviana, so I assumed that this couldn't be worse than that. But all three I imagine are similar in taste.

In fact I think you only need one of each species and there would be adequate cross-pollination among them.

lol, the funny thing is...i could probably make a profit on the seeds for that price...cuz i'd sell them for about $3-4 ea!

seriously though, they fruit pretty fast...u might get fruit in another 2-3yr...I think my grafted trees might flower this year...only about 1.5yr from grafting...and from immature budwood (the mother tree was close to flowering, but had not yet)

Adam, am I right that glazioviana, guaquiea and strigipipes all taste very similar and that they would cross-pollinate?

Sorry! Just look at the October 27, didn't noticed the 2014...
About seedlings, if our customs weren't that greedy, I would maybe take the risk, but knowing the possibilities of them passing trough it are close to 0, I prefer not to take the risk!
Do you have any other Myrciaria/plinia species, seeds available?

Grapebush,

right now have lots of red jaboticaba $1ea (usually $2ea)

and white jaboticaba $4-5 ea (orders over 20 price drops to $4)...will sell out soon of white jaboticaba...or I will plant them

with some luck Plinia trunciflora will be available in a few months...

Mango stein

ive only tasted glazioviana and strigipes, and yes they are all purported to be similar in taste...i grow them all, because some will be fruiting when others aren't...the harvesting season is staggered...i'm sure the chance for hybridization exists...but not sure how likely it is to occur.
