This mature plant was a gift from a friend, and is setting heavily. Fruit are very good, one of the best, if not the best native Australian Fruit for eating fresh out of hand. No sign of myrtle rust as of yet.
Should have a good amount of seed to trade.

With the rain we've had lately & the warmer weather , hope your keeping it in a all day sunny exposure with good cross breeze.

Yes carl, it's in a good spot. Haven't had as much rain as other areas in Brisbane, which is typical. I seem to miss out on most of the good falls. What fungicide are you usng by the way?

Nice plant! I just ordered seeds of this Eugenia. Very excited to watch it grow. How long did it take to fruit?

When I got the plant it was already about 30cm, about a foot, within a couple of years it started fruiting.

Starling,
Regular liquid copper spray, usually after we've had a shower and it's humid. Then I spray them with any leftovers from doing the mangoes (mancozeb+ & liquid copper & spredmax).
-
Best eating when it turns a dark red.
-
it's a decent fruit for sure.
I have 3 plants fruiting from two sources, and then some other seedlings I'm selling now that were seeds planted from Logees variety, which are about to fruit.
they are super drought and heat tolerant...
(a very short shrubby bush for the first few years it fruits....so short that my dog shat right on the bush, covering the fruits and flowers!...i don't know why he has to take a dump right on the plant...it's like a sport to him.)
my trees had rust, so i kept manually tearing off the leaves and branches with rust...this seemed to help...now the trees are looking really good.

My dog does ths also, especially around any area where I've layed down fresh mulch. Maybe he thinks he's too noble to shit on the grass.

Yep, these dogs male dogs? Mine does same thing but he is 50kg so he fills the top of the pots. Backs up to it then backs out on it! Haha. Mum and dad have some big crows nest ferns and you walk around the yard after our dog has been there and its like a birds nest with big brown eggs right in the middle. They are his favourite.

Their probably getting back at the plants for taking up all your valuable time, instead of playing with them.

Lol ya my dog Ed can crap right into a one gal pot!
He has impeccable aim.
I've always wondered why he has to crap on everything (one time he crapped on a brick planter...it was funny because he cocked his leg, and smoothly transitioned into a pooping position, thus deficating on a 2ft tall brick ledge.)
Sorry for the dog doo doo derail. Eugenia reinwardtiana deserves more love for sure...it's a great choice for zone pushers and container growers

that's my dog's version of foliar feeding! :(

I was all excited, I thought I discovered a rare species that produces brownies!
But they had hair in them, and taste like chewed up dog food

I have 2 seedlings, 2 years old or so, 30cm tall, they grown so slow... but now are growing faster.
Fruit size? yours it seems to be 2 to 3 cm
-
Mostly around 2.5cm x 2cm.

I planted a Eugenia reinwardtiana in the ground this past spring, and it's just started ripening fruit in the last few weeks. I like them -- kind of a big seed, but the flesh has a great flavor. The fellow I got the plant from has one in a 7 or 15 gallon pot, and he says his is nearly everbearing. I look forward to having these available for snacking on for most of the year!

Your dog heard worms are good for plant health! Haha, not saying your dog has worms just crackin funny.

I just laughed until my eyes watered. Toilet humor gets me every time. So good. ;D ;D ;D
-
Poor bugger hasn't been barkin up the wrong branch just parkin up the wrong branch! Haha
-
i had some seeds
but, now im not sure if this is reinwardtiana
or, maybe E. Florida seeds i also planted ?
also, anyone know the cold tolerance ?
i had the impression it was fairly hardy, as a couple of related species are
but, 2 sources i read say significant damage at 30 F ??

Great report! this is very useful as I love everbearing trees :D, now I know I should plant it.
