Tropical Fruit Discussion / Paclobutrazol
« on: June 14, 2019, 12:48:40 AM »
I was reading an article about a Japanese researcher using this
Paclobutrazol in Japan to restrict the size of avocados. I also spoke to a former mango farmer from the nt who had seen something like this trialled. Im wondering if it could be used to restrict the size of Durians so they could be grown in a hothouse.

Hi all,
Im trying to get hold of E4 mango seeds, also possibly the ones below: happy to work something out on costs.
Brahm Kai Meu
Keow Savoy
Kook Lom Krong
Piņa Colada
Mun Khun See
Lemon Meringue(PPK)
Orange Sherbet
Lemon Zest
Sweet Tart
Coconut Cream
Cheers

Seeds are not going to come true to type. Most of the better tasting ones are selections from wild populations, genetic flukes as such. I dont think there are any improved landraces or breeding programs that would offer seeds with much probability of improved offspring.

Citrus General Discussion / Re: Citrus inodora
« on: January 20, 2019, 05:12:18 PM »
Nope its from the other side of the country  in Qld, not sure how big the fruit will get  originally it was on its own roots, im guessing cutting grown,it did nothing for 5 years then entually it started to decline, out of fear of losing it I grafted a couple of scions to a carrizo rootstock I had. 18 months later its doing great. Yes I am putting a few of my bigger plants in totes, others are going into 1/2 blue barrels. These are cheaper than 100l and 300l pots. I also have a bobcat to move them with and a 2.4m high door on the poly tunnel.

You could try mangifera rubropetala,  kasturi, lalijiwa or perhaps the hybrids mentioned here:
