Avocado Fruit ID?

Hello Members,

Saw this avocado at Walmart and picked up a few , are they Lula?

Store bought stuff... pass. However look similar to a Russell Avocado.

Yes, it's probably Lula although the neck is a little longer than most.  Have you tasted it yet?  Lulas are quite good.  Somewhat dry and a little sweet.

Could be an elongated Lula. ‘Hall’ is another possibility.

How’d you end up enjoying it Ed? I picked one up as well and detected some sweet notes so assumed it was lula as well. Mine wasn’t quite as elongated. Thought it was quite good though.

I believe it has convinced me to grow lula over Monroe, mostly because I haven’t heard anyone growing monroe  up here and lula stays on the tree for a while.

Lula definitely has better cold hardiness in the event you get freezes. Only issue in interior areas is that it can get quite a bit of scab.

True with the scabs.  Also, Lula had a very large seed, relative to fruit size.
None of mine (when I had the tree) was ever that elongated.

Is scab just on the exterior so that the flesh is still good?
