I just picked my Washington navel oranges. Some split, so I picked them all.
The skin is a light yellow/green. The flesh is pure white, like a white grapefruit.
They taste super sweet and are extremely juicy, but have a very slightly bitter after-taste.
My bergamot oranges were very pale also.
The cara cares are not ripe yet.
The lemons, limes and finger limes always come out really well, but these are my first batches of oranges.
What did I do wrong? They are in my greenhouse with the other citrus.
Thanks!

Can you post some photos of tree, leaves and fruit?
Any possibility that the trees are not actually Washington Navels?
-
was this tree i a freeze?
-
Thanks guys!
Yes, I can post pics first thing in the morning. May have been mislabeled. I got it from the same place that sold me a "Meyer" lemon that turned out to be a Yen Ben.
No chance of a freeze. It is in my orangerie, which never gets lower than 40.

Here is what was supposed to be a Washington Navel Orange.
Thoughts? I did check, and the trunk is definitely above the graft.
The leaves look different than my palestine sweet lime, and this "orange" has long, straight thorns.

Cannot see the stylar end of the fruit. Is there a navel at he stylar end of the fruit?
-
No, just a smooth little bump like the end of a lime. Inside it is just the segments, no "baby" fruit.
-
Without a navel at the stylar end, then it surely is not a Washington Navel. Second, the peel is much to smooth and wrong color to be a Washington navel
-
I don't see white flesh. Flesh looks more pale than on would like but it seems to be within the color range for an orange. Perhaps better sun or nutrients might make an orange more to you liking? Also, I agree with Millet: does not look to be a navel ernge.
