Mine went from green to slightly yellow to wrinkled.  Is this internal breakdown due to some sort of deficiency?  Mine are in pots.

Is the tree in a pot or in the ground?

15 gal container

I'm a fan!  The top half was excellent.  The bottom half was mush.  I now know to inspect the bottom half first.  I was expecting more color & only testing the shoulders for ripeness.  Live & learn.  1st homegrown Sweet Tart.

What do you guys think about the smaller ST in the middle?  One side is blocked from the sun & is still green.  The fruit gives to touch, but it is still firm.  The skin on the yellow side is wrinkled.

I'm in search of an excellent grafter in the Tampa Bay Area.  I have 2 mango trees that I would like to have top worked with multiple varieties.  Currently I have way too many mangos (all in pots) for the space that I have.  I would like to put 2 multi grafted trees in the ground while I'm searching for  a larger piece of property.  I'm willing to pay or if you might be interested in some things that I'm planning on getting rid of anyway that is also an option.

Thanks,

Rod

Ice Cream mango...taste, weill, I dont want to seem biased so I will cut to the chase...it sucks.  There, I said it.  Tree is prone to fungus and fruit is prone to scab.

That's why I was thinking about getting rid of it.  I had heard about all of the disease issues, but surprisingly it is the cleanest fruit in the yard.  The cleanest mangos in my yard in order are Ice Cream, sweet tart, Fairchild, and then cogshall.

I will give it a fair chance...maybe it stays. At least I can keep it in a pot for a while.

Well my friend doesn't want two Glenn's, so I will be getting the one I gave him back.  Hopefully there will be minimal damage to the root system.

Thanks Mike!

I know it would do better in the ground, but I need to max out my production since I have limited space now.  So unless it tastes Amazing I will be getting rid of it.  In your opinion, how does it taste?

Well it had been very dry here (Tampa Bay Area) until this week, plus the fruit are pretty mature.  Also, it seems like South FL gets more rain than us.  Maybe it just rains every time I go down south.  Hopefully they are tasty this year because he has enough to share.

I have never tasted the Ice Cream Mango before & this may be my only chance since I will be getting rid of this tree.  How do you know when the fruit is ready/ripe?  There is only one mango, so I only have one shot!

Thanks Jeff!!!

My friend is now PISSED OFF!!  I told him how Glenn can get watered down with too much rain.  I also sent him some quotes from other forum members talking about the mild taste.  So now he has the Glenn that I gave him in the ground along with the Glenn in the pics that he bought not knowing what it was.

Does anyone recognize this mango?  My friend bought this unmarked/unknown mango last year.  It's been in the ground 1-1.5 years. Last year the fruit were small, but this year there are a lot more fruit & they are much larger.

Jeff...I was so busy trying to get variety info, that I forgot to pull up the paper & check for a graft. :D

I bought a Himalyan last year that I absolutely love!!!!  Are they easy to propagate as well?  The Himalyan is the only reason that I'm interested.

I saw some mulberries at H.D. that were not marked.  Would anyone know what variety they are?  Tag says grown for Delray Plants by Pine Island Nursery...sku 289-435.  There was no description when scanned.

Thanks for the updates!  Does anyone have any current pics that they can post?  Also, how is the taste if it is left on the tree to ripen instead of picked green to ripen?

So it sounds like Maekawa is not worth planting without a pollinator?

Brad - Does this variety require Fuyu for pollination?
